For every employee, joining Consonus Pharmacy means having access to plentiful opportunities to grow and advance. Technology and Innovation

Over the past two decades, Consonus Pharmacy has become a national leader with a reputation for exceptional quality, safety and innovation.”
– Teri Ferreira RPh, VP of Operations

The reputation for exceptional quality, safety and innovation Consonus Pharmacy has earned over nearly 20 years starts with an absolute commitment to being the best and investing in the technology and people that requires. We have been a national leader in utilizing Lean Management systems and processes, and were one of the first to embrace and integrate Electronic Medical Records with our customers. To advocate for our patients and customers with Congress and the administration, we helped create the Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition, and our CEO is the chair of the American Health Care Association.

All of our pharmacies use advanced bar code and packaging technology, including the MedBank automated e-kit dispensing system and the Dosis packaging system, and our focus on improving efficiency is pervasive throughout the company.

Using Lean Management, we have reinvented pharmacy design and workflows, innovations that have been emulated by other pharmacies nationwide. Our extensive use of data and proprietary software drives staff assignments in all locations which ensures an on-time delivery of medications.

Consonus’ focus on safety is a legendary obsession, with daily employee huddles and weekly leadership safety stand-ups reporting on a wide range of key metrics, such as defect trends and on-time delivery compliance. Once-monthly patient safety meetings is an opportunity for team members from different departments and pharmacies to meet to review our patient safety programming. Standard work is common language in the pharmacy as they are the framework – step-by-step checklists that are developed to train our teams in processes to use every single time to ensure safety for our patients.

All this attention to innovation, technology, process and safety paid huge dividends when the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020. Consonus took the nation-wide lead in rolling out and distributing the vaccines, and in fact was one of only a very few senior care pharmacies authorized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to administer the shots in facilities. It was just the latest example of our commitment to doing the right thing, always, to our leadership and culture, and to the quality of people who work here.
